The Met’s Christmas Tree

December 03, 2018

Sure everyone knows the usual NYC holiday spots for festive cheer—Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park Winter Village, Radio City Music Hall, are all great choices. However, if you want to experience something genuinely special and unique, it’s the hidden places that ring our bells louder. Head to the Medieval Sculpture Hall in the Metropolitan Museum of Art to delight in the twenty-foot blue spruce decorated in silk-robed angels that hover above the eighteenth century Neapolitan Nativity scene. The tree is visited by art and culture lovers from across the world each year. The lavish installation is displayed in front of the eighteenth-century Spanish choir screen from the Cathedral of Valladolid. This year, there will be no specific tree lightings, however ethereal and seasonal music will be playing in the gallery for the duration of the installation. Spend the rest of your time exploring the majestic halls of the museum before returning to The Gregory for well-crafted cocktails at Brendan’s Bar & Grill.
